Real Weddings: Katie & Nick 10.04.08

Real Weddings: Katie & Nick
Katie & Nick were married on 10.04.08 in Seattle. Claudine Ursino a wedding event planner with La Belle Soiree contacted Elements in Bloom to create a simple and sophisticated look, with an element of drama for her bouquet.
We chose to gather a sophisticated compilation of Vendella Champagne colored Roses & Spray Roses, cream colored mini Calla Lilies and the drama of dark purple, almost black mini Calla Lillies. The combination is stunning and the black callas really pop against her gorgeous wedding dress.

Elements in Bloom would like to thank Claudine Ursino owner and event planner of La Belle Soiree for providing these gorgeous shots of the bride. Thank you!

Purple is IN!

Purple is the new "buzz" color for this coming wedding season. Purple is my favorite color - so I am very excited to start creating lots of unique color combinations using purple and flowers. I tend to me more of a fan of dark purples, plums etc., rather than the laveder shades and that's where the current trend lies. However, I really love this new rose variety named Ocean Song. It's a soft lavender color. I love it paired with other dark and rich colors such as, blues, burgundy, brown and black. All of the "b" colors apparently.

This particular bouquet was made with Ocean Song Roses, cabernet colored Kangaroo Paw, purple Thistle and salmon Hypericum berry. I like the contrast between the dark colors of the Thistle and the K-paw against the lighter shades of the Rose and Hypericum Berry. I think I could even toss out the Berry and I'd like it even more. Some Peacock feathers instead would be striking.

Enjoy!

Real Weddings: Debbie & Adam 6.28.08

Here are the pictures I recieved from her photographer Fred Calma Photography of Debbie & Adam wedding. They were married at Snoqualmie Ridge Golf Course and the day was just gorgeous for them.
Debbie went back and forth on color selection and I'm so glad she convinced herself with my nudging to go with the orange and blue. It's such a fun and striking color combination. That beautiful aqual blue and rich orange really compliment each other well.
Rich oranges for Debbie's bouquet with Roses, Calla Lilies and Celosia.

Hydrangea & Rose centerpieces that appear to be nestled among a combination of orange rose petals.

White Carnation Pomanders for the aisleway.

Thanks Debbie & Adam!

Orange Callas... Simply Stunning!

I just can't get enough of these orange Calla Lilies. They are gorgeous! My photography isn't too shabby either...
These arrangements are from Heather & David's wedding on 10.04.08 at Alki's Salty's Restaurant .
I love the striking contrast between the grey and browns of the driftwood, rocks & chains and the sporadic blues of a nautical background and then the rich and bright orange Calla Lily bouquet popping out of the photo.

The Bridal Bouquet with the Maid of Honor's bouquet in the foreground. Beautifully clean and green stems and an ivory satin wrap.

Gone Fishing!

We created simple yet satisfying centerpieces for the reception. A bundled bouquet of calla lilies resting in glass cylinders with natural river rock pebbles. The greys, browns and white's of the river rocks ties in all the colors in the flowers and the room.
This would be a great idea for the bride who's budget conscious. The Bridesmaids bouquets could then double as table centerpieces.

Simple Lily Grass wraps on the stems of the Calla Lilies secured with three black pins and the grasses naturally creating a ribbon tie.

The Guest Book table arrangement.

One of Altar pieces. The arrangements lend a feel for fall and harvest. A unique combination of oranges, burgundy, yellow, greens & purples. Oak leaves, Artichoke Hearts, Gerbera Daisies, Snapdragons, Echinacea, Fern Curls, Tulips and more.

Check back, as I will be posting the professional photography when I receive it as well.

Real Weddings - Tahiti: Kim & Ed 9.13.08!

Back from French Polynesia! I traveled to Tahiti for Kime & Ed's wedding on 9.13.08. Kim has been a very good friend of mine for about 15 years, so what an experience to travel to Tahiti to be a part of her and Edward's special day.
Special is an understatement! It was incredible! A cultural experience along with a beautiful representation of their dedication, support and love for each other. It was a truly magical day with the 37 guests who traveled from the United States and the other 40+ native to Tahit guests who attended and participated in the event. The surroundings, with the swaying of palm trees, crystal blue/green waters, sandy beaches and flowers upon flowers upon flowers were gorgeous.

Kim and Ed at their reception. All the tables had tons of tropical floral arrangements in rich colors of reds and oranges with a braided palm leaf archway behind the happy couple. The intricacy of the design was incredible.
The boys at the cocktail reception immediately after the wedding. Wearing traditional Tahitian leis with greenery & small fragrant white flowers.

Grandpa in the process of cooking the boar on the beach at Ed & Kim's Tahitian family reception the following day after the wedding at the hotel. Traditional Tahitian fare & dress set the tone for the event.

The Tahitian blessing ceremony at Ed's Uncle's Felix & Caress' house. A traditional Tahitian prayer and fertility dance took place and Tahitian dancers to end the evening.

Our pool at the Hotel with a swim-up bar. Every hotel needs a swim-up bar.... a must!

All the girls wearing traditional Tahitian pareos and floral crowns at the Tahitian ceremony.

Thanks to Kim & Ed and family for extending a warm welcome to all of us from the United States. It was an unforgettable event!

Zinnias - In Season!

Zinnias are in season! The papery type flower that blooms in a multitude of colors. They look wonderful in a collection of different colors or mixed with other delicate flowers. I love their vintage quality.
Wrapped with an ivory satin and a vintage lace overlay. Embellished with pearl pins finish off the look.

Resources for Brides & Vendors

Wedding Wire is a great resource for Brides & Vendors alike. Vendors can post a storefront online for free and upload pictures, information about your business format, get referrals from previous clients and endorsements from affiliate vendors. It's a great way to get more presence on the web and easily connect with your clients and network with other vendors to help strengthen business relationships and create more "buzz" about your business.
For Brides, you can search local vendors and get reviews and see samples of their work or their business philosophy. You can easily see what other vendors they recommend decreasing your time spent searching for good, reliable vendors to do business with. You can also share information with other brides, start a discussion and create your own website where you can manage your budget and your vendors for the big day. You can get free planning and organizing tools as well.
Out of all the free websites available to wedding & event vendors, this is definitely one of the best. It is laid out well and has tremendous ease of use. Plus, you a get a lot for FREE! I love being able to quickly and easily connect with other vendors as well as ask my past clients for reviews that I can then use on my personal website. You can also either link to your blog or start a blog on wedding wire for your business.
Visit my Storefront to get an idea of the benefits for vendors. I highly recommend this site. Enjoy!

Real Weddings: Annie & Andy 7.19.08

Annie & Andy were married at The Manor in Everett, WA. They are a very sweet couple who just graduating from Seattle Pacific Lutheran University. I got these great photos from their photographer John Nolte Photography. He was a pleasure to work with and did a great job capturing some detailed shots of the flowers.
We created a garden style bouquet for Annie with roses, gardenias, mini calla lilies and stephanotis. She chose to accent it with her Grandmothers handkerchief embroidered with an "E". Something old and something blue!

We created 3 different styles of centerpieces for the tables. One a mixed garden style arrangment and another simple Hydrangeas in a vase and the 3rd was a trio of snapdragons, hydrangeas and roses.

We created 2 altar pieces on traditional corinthian columns and then an arbor piece that the bride walked through down the altar.

Love the pomanders framing in the aisle and the guests!

Annie & Andy were a pleasure to work with and I enjoyed being a part of their wedding day. The family and friends were so gracious in their compliments of the flowers and decor. I wish them the best of luck in their new life together.

Real Weddings: Jennifer & Jason 2007

Jason & Jennifer were married at Smuggler's Cove in Mukilteo, summer of 2007. Jennifer chose a soft pink color palette with striking coral Antheriums.

The bridesmaids carried clutches of Safari Sunset, Hypericum berry and Roses

Cute copper buckets with Dahlias, Roses, Hypericum Berry & Greens hanging from the chairs with copper satin ribbon.

I love this cake. It almost looks vintage.

Wedding Whirlwind Weekend... is over!

Whew... the weekend is over and that means so are all the weddings. I loved it, but it's nice to be done and relax a couple days before it starts all over again. I had 4 weddings this past weekend, which is something I don't normally do. Usually I only do one event a day, but I had some past clients refer me - which is great! So, I was able to fit them in. The biggest wedding was on Sunday and pictures of all the arrangements and bouquets will be coming soon.

I couldn't have done it all without my assistants: Jana, Katrina and Kayce! Thank you.

These are just a few pictures of my shop and how full of flowers it was this past weekend. Beautiful white Hydrangeas and Dendrobium Orchids.

Blue Hydrangea, such a rich blue, purple and green Kale and purple Lissianthus.

My shop, full of flowers!
